EU second helping

 Here we are in downtown Mosonmagyaróvár in Hungary, with 350 dentists and a population less than Bury St Edmunds. After Cathy's dental treatment we had to take it a bit quiet for a few days and this is just the place to do it. However, we did spot a Circus and it was very well done. Lots of animals that looked well cared for doing short stints in the big top - including camels, zeebras, lions, elephants etc.   They also did some high wire acts and a nearly incomprehensible 'funny' act with involved a lot of hitting and kicking up the backside. c A long day driving across Austria saw us in Italy. The place we wanted to stay was closed so a bit of a struggle to find an alternative in the Italian Alps. However, we found Gemona, overlooking the plain, it had many old buildings but suffered from an earthquake in the 1970's. the picture shows a large and impressive statue outside the restored church. Across the EU to Hungary

Well here we are in Sunny/Rainy/Windy/ ‘Somewhere in Europe’ - can’t be much more specific as by the time you read this we could be anywhere. Our best laid plans were to cut across from France, via Belgium, Luxembourg, Germany and Austria to Italy. So of course as I write this I am sitting in Hungary. I forget who it was, someone famous I think, who said ‘dentistry’ when asked what the most significant thing that had been produced by modern science. So when Cathy’s teeth started to ache we needed to do something about them. A week before we left UK, Cathy sent a tentative email to a Hungarian dentist based in Mossonmagyarovar, a gnat’s whisker from the Austrian border and home to over 300 dentists (at least one for every day of the week) to provide top quality dentistry at low prices for Austrian and German patients. Apparently ‘Dental Tourism’ is a thing. So this might explain our route across Europe, but I’m getting ahead of myself here – as far as this blo...

The longest journey starts with a single step, so with the whole world to choose from for our first trip away after our retirement we choose ... FRINTON! We had a great break at the Lighthouse SPA in Frinton, with Nancy and Ros. This was the first time we were able to celebrate their wedding which took place earlier this year in Feb.
